It took me a while to figure out how to photograph it though - it's all about the little details

Waves rebound off the huge sea wall that runs out to the lighthouse there

with a big swell rolling in from the Atlantic

Next the canvas is stretched over the stretcher frame

It took three early morning trips up in my friend Mike's plane (doors removed!) before I finally got lucky with the light. We are flying in a crazy tight circles, me leaning out taking way too many pictures. The resulting image is a stitch of four photographs put together. The detail is great up close, though some of this is a little lost on the smaller size canvas. HOW WE MAKE THE PICTURE
