Heinz Krey was born in Wiesbaden in December 1921 and was killed on the 23rd May 1943 in the middle of the North Atlantic. He was posthumously awarded the Knight's Cross on the 4th September 1943. This beautiful painting, completed in oil on board, shows Krey three quarter length wearing his Kriegsmarine officer's uniform. It has recently appeared on the collectors
