I traced out the design in pencil over the map then painted all the colors at the same time using a wet on wet technique allowing the colors to mix and blend
The metal is antiqued and varnish is applied to the entire surface

I then added increasingly darker reds toward the outside shape of the heart so it created an inner glow. The final color I added was the splash of patina blue using acid oxidized copper paint.
