Initially, they enjoyed the cool breeze, but as the heat of the afternoon continued the breeze turned into a fierce wind, blowing them away from shore. As the evening approached they realized that they were exhausted and lost at sea. With no sense of direction, they eventually did not even know which way the shore was. They felt hopeless until they spotted a distant light
